IEC – Information, Education & Communication

Daang Vikas Sansthan (DVS) recognizes the power of information and awareness in bringing sustainable change within communities. Through its IEC initiatives, DVS focuses on educating individuals, strengthening capacities, and promoting informed decision-making among marginalized populations.

IEC is an essential tool used by DVS to communicate critical messages related to health, livelihoods, labour rights, education, and social welfare in a simple, accessible, and impactful manner.

Our Approach

DVS adopts a participatory and community-driven approach to IEC, ensuring that information reaches people in formats they understand and trust.

1. IEC Materials Development

We design and distribute user-friendly IEC materials such as:

  • Posters, pamphlets, and leaflets
  • Wall paintings and visual aids
  • Audio-visual content and community videos
  • Flipbooks and training manuals

These materials are developed in local languages and tailored to the needs of the community.

2. Guidelines and Resource Support

DVS develops practical guidelines and toolkits to support:

  • Safe working practices
  • Health and hygiene behaviors
  • Access to government schemes
  • Community-level planning and action

These resources help both community members and field workers implement programs effectively.

3. Training and Capacity Building

We conduct regular training programs for:

  • Community members
  • Workers and labour groups
  • Volunteers and field staff
  • Local institutions and collectives

Trainings focus on improving knowledge, skills, and behavior related to health, safety, rights, and development practices.

4. MRC (Model Resource Centre) Support

DVS strengthens Model Resource Centres (MRCs) as hubs of information and learning by:

  • Providing updated IEC materials and resources
  • Facilitating training sessions and workshops
  • Supporting community meetings and discussions
  • Acting as a bridge between communities and government services

MRCs serve as accessible platforms where individuals can seek guidance, information, and support.
